Miley Cyrus “Breaks Out”

Miley Cyrus’s new solo album tops the charts.

Miley Cyrus is on the rise, and leaving Hannah Montana behind.

The 15-year-old topped the charts last week with her new album, Breakout, reports E! News. And the tween pop princess did it without her alter ego, Hannah Montana.

The album, Cyrus’s third, sold 371,000 copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan data. Her previous two albums were combinations of her own music and that of her Disney character’s.

This solo album seems to be only the beginning for the young starlet. But it could also mean the end of her Disney stint. According to EI News, Cyrus will be hosting the Teen Choice Awards this weekend and stars in the animated movie, Bolt, opening in November.

Although Cyrus seems to be shedding the image and character that flung her into fame, she is still scheduled to film another season of Hannah Montana, as well as a Hannah Montana movie, scheduled to be released in May 2009. Although her character’s future is unclear after that, Miley’s seems to be looking bright.
